Platform Update

Hey everyone, an upcoming update:
We're probably going to have emails!

I found a transactional email service that's in the EU and should fit our requirements.

Before I flip the switch on – does anyone have any complaints?
(The service would/will be https://www.brevo.com; based in Paris.)

I think I remember SendInBlue, we used to use their services at my programming job. Can't really say anything negative because I wasn't that involved with it besides some integration (or the absolute lack thereof because I never got the time to actually look at that)

I still don’t have a reply for them asking what to put in the “Company Name” field since I’m not a company so this might be dead in the water.

I must say, the fact that there's no email, makes this "slower" (in a good way) for me. I don't expect people to see updates quickly, nor do I feel that people expect this from me. It's like an extra stress factor that platforms have, but here it isn't. If people want email, no problem ofc. But I just checked my settings and disabled the mail notifications for myself now.

ilja I do agree on that! I do believe I would enjoy a "once a week" email digest, mostly because otherwise I forget about the forums and I do like to see what's new once in a while. If the point was to be real-time, this would just be another AP instance, wouldn't it? ;p

Notably you also can just disable email notifications.
It's more that right now it's not possible to have them to begin with like you say ^^

I would be more interested in having RSS/Atom feeds than emails since I already follow some forums like that, but I have no qualms with emails existing on here.

My company has used Brevo when it was still called Sendinblue for manual mass mailing, and they're considering replacing the email setup on our apps with Brevo. Certainly better than the current random OVH mail account that occasionally hits rate limits… I haven't been involved in that either but I didn't hear of any major issues.

Yeah honestly Brevo seems good it's just.
I wish I knew what they want me to do for this?
But it seems like their support team intends to and has ghosted me.

Have you tried putting a good old zero width space in there?

Some websites don't treat it as a space character so you can use it to put nothing at all in the company name field even though it's required

I mean I could also put stuff like "Private" and similar (that's what Migadu wants you to do).
The issue is, I do want to hear what they want, right? I don't want to have an adversarial relationship with my outgoing email provider.
Unfortunately it looks like there may not be much of an option eh?

Put null so that when asked you can just say it's a bug on their side!

what exactly do you wanna use brevo for? hosting email accounts?

「 Fristi 」 to send transactional emails, i.e. the thing they're meant for :^).
